    Questions and Answers

    Moving items from memory card from private mode would they still be visible if you take memory card out and put it in another device?

    Does memory card hide files in privatemode

    They are found under .hide when you mark them to private. Once you do that even if you save to the SD card, it will still be in the .hide of internal memory. If you wish to save these files, then connect your phone to the PC and transfer them.

    Can you help? Hello. I used the back to factory settings option on my Samsung Galaxy S5. I was told that none of my pictures would get deleted and private pictures, but they all got deleted and I had some very important picture-documents on my private pictures.

    Hello. I used the back to factory settings option on my Samsung Galaxy S5. I was told that none of my pictures would get deleted and private pictures, but they all got deleted and I had some very important picture-documents on my private pictures.

    Firstly, check your microSD card for any missing files. You can use any file manager for that like X-plore. Factory resetting will not delete anything from your microSD card. Also, if you previously backed up your contents on your computer, use the program that you have resorted to to restore your contents. The most popular program for S5 models that you can launch can be Kies or Smart Switch. Both can restore your manual back up.

    If the data was extremely important, then you should switch off your smartphone immediately and ship it to SalvageData. SalvageData, or any other data recovery service, will do its best to extract information from your formatted smartphone. You can submit your case right on the Web site to get your quotation.

    I think my husband put a software on my phone to track me?

    I think my husband put a software or an app on my phone to track my location and/or who I am calling and/or texting which websites I visit, etc. How can I find out if he has?

    This is not an easy task, as modern application tend to mask themselves quite well. There are some oblique signs though:

    • poor voice call quality with some strange beeps and noise on the background;
    • the battery has been draining considerably faster than before;
    • random reboots;
    • check your Internet data: you can use your carrier web site for that or visit the carrier office; examine all of the addressed IPs or addresses. You can use https://www.easywhois.com/ for IP addresses (enter the IP and select "IP address lookup" from the drop-down menu). Visit every suspicious web site that you probably have not visited;
    • hotter or slower phone than usual;
    • install and run anti-spyware programs, for example, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antispycell.free.

    View old files saved privately on new phone?

    I had to send my S5 in for repair, how can I view the files on my SD card that I had moved to the private mode on my old S5, I can see 5GB of files but can't view any of them

    Basically, you can't. Otherwise, it would defeat the purpose of Private Mode because anyone could use your SD card. It saves to internal memory and even when you move it to the SD card, it reverts or saves as encrypted. Maybe running a crack program would open the files but that could damage the rest of the files on your SD card.

    WHEN I TRY TO HIDE MY CALLER ID THEN I AM NOT ALLOWED TO MAKE ANY CALLS. HOW DO I CANCEL THIS?

    I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE CALLS IF I HIDE MY CALLER ID. IT SAYS CONDITIONAL FORWARDING ON

    Samsung Support has created a tutorial on how to hide your caller i.d.. It will only work for making calls and not for SMS. Additionally, some countries and carriers do not allow you to hide your caller i.d. If this is your case, then you can consider using a third party app to make calls and mask your identity. However, if the person you are contacting has an app like True Caller enabled then your identity will show up for them even if you try to mask the call. Your number also might show on their actual hard copy cellphone bill if they request to itemize.

    Hi there I've got an S4, how do I unhide contents?

    Hi there I've got an S4, how do I unhide contents

    Whether you are in Gallery or My Files, you can tap the More in the settings of those apps. There will be a section for hidden items. Click that and you can show all or individually the items you wish to unhide. This is for the Kitkat OS. If you have been upgraded to Lollipop OS, you can connect your phone to Kies and search for items with .hide attached.

    How to find the "private" folder when transferring files over to a computer if it is not activated?

    I dropped my phone and now the entire screen is black, the phone still functions as I can unlock it, open apps, receive calls but I cannot see anything on the screen. So I am obviously getting a new one but I wanted to transfer all my files over to my computer so I can have them saved. I have several photos and pictures hidden through the private function and as the screen is black I cannot activate the private function, even when I try my best going off my memory I don't believe I am unlocking private mode. So is there a way to find the photos in the private folder on my computer when I connect them or not?

    You can run a search for .hide within Kies but without Private Mode disabled, you may just be transferring files that you will never be able to open unless you crack the encryption.

    I can't locate my apps icon on the extreme right hand side of my favorites bar?

    There's no apps icon on my Galaxy S5

    This happened after the Lollipop OS update. You can either go to Settings and then Display and toggle the Multi Window function OR long press on the screen and you will be able to adjust settings and widgets for your home screen.

    How to free up space on Samsung Galaxy 5?

    I have a Samsung Galaxy 5. It is saying the memory is almost full. My contacts are taking up an enormous amount of space. When my daughter set up my phone, she imported all of my Yahoo email contacts into my phone contacts. Now I can't delete them. I don't need them in my contacts. Ideas?

    You can login on the PC to Google Contacts. These are your phone contacts. You can edit within that website and then sync your phone for the changes. The other option is to go to People in your Apps list and deselect Yahoo. Reboot the phone and see if they are gone from your contacts. If you have the Yahoo app then go to Applications Manager and Clear Cache and Data within that app. Then delete it and re install but this time choose not to sync Yahoo email contacts with your phone contacts.
