Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video we are going to show you how to turn On or Off the option to hide private contacts, names, and photos on the security lock screen of an HTC One M8.

   To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button located on the top of the phone

   Once the phone has been activated we will see the Lock screen

   To unlock the phone, swipe the screen upwards

   Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the Home screen and at the bottom we will see some icons. We need to find the Settings menu now. To do that we need to swipe the Notification menu down.

   To do that, start right at the top of the screen and swipe down

   Now the Notification panel has appeared

   We are looking for this icon here. In the top right-hand corner of the screen we can see there is a white cog icon. This is our "Settings" icon. Press down on it.

   It will open up our "Settings" menu

   We can see it says the word "Settings" in the top left-hand corner of the screen.

   Now let's scroll down until we get to the "PERSONAL" section

   In this section we are looking for an option

   We can see that it says the word "Security" and next to the word "Security" there is the icon of a gray padlock. Press down on this option.

   It will open up our "Security" menu

   This is the section we want. This is the option we want here, it says "LOCK SCREEN." "Incoming phone calls." "Hide private contacts' names and photos on the security lock screen."

    What this option does then, it means that when we look at the Lock screen it won't show us our private contacts, their names, and photos

    .

    And that's just to keep them secret because anyone can turn our phones on. If we have a Lock screen, they might not be able to access the phone, but even if they turn it on and they see that people have been trying to contact then that still is an invasion of privacy. We may not want these people to know who is trying to contact us. And what we can do then is to turn this option On or Off. If we don't mind, that we can see. Sometimes it's useful because when we just turn the phone on or wake the phone up, then we can see exactly who has called us because the information is on the Lock screen. If we want to turn this information On or Off, just press down on this box. Right now we can see that this option is activated. That is because there is a green box with a white checkmark inside.

    Press down that box and the and the checkmark disappears and that means that this option has now been deactivated

    And now it means that this information, "names" and "photos" will appear on the Lock screen.
