Get a Skype Phone Number on Microsoft Lumia 535

Hello, and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to get a Skype phone number when using the Skype application on a Microsoft Lumia 535.
Steps
- 1To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the right-hand side of the phone.
- 2Swipe the lock screen up, and this will take us to the home screen.Once the phone is activated, we'll see the lock screen.
- 3It has a blue tile background, and in the middle there is the Skype logo, which is a white circle, and inside there is a blue letter "S". If the Skype tile has not been pinned to the home screen, then swipe left and find it in the Apps menu.On the home screen, we need to find the Skype tile.
- 4Once the Skype tile has been located, press down on it to enter the application.
- 5There should be a circle, and in that circle there may be, if you have chosen it, a profile photo. If you haven't added a profile photo, it will just be the outline of a head and shoulders.Once the application has loaded, we will need to enter our own profile by pressing the icon at the top right-hand corner of the screen.
- 6It has an icon of a head and shoulders. If we press this, it is going to redirect us to the Skype.com website. It will need to use the internet for this, so be aware of that.In our profile, we need to go to "view account", written in blue text.
- 7There we have our profile photo and our name.We now want to enter our profile, and to do that, we can press down anywhere in the area at the top of the screen.
- 8There are two options on the lower part of the screen. The first, "Personal information", is highlighted in blue with white text. This is the current highlighted option. "Contact details" is written in blue text with a gray background.Once our profile has loaded, we need to go to "Contact details" at the bottom right.
- 9This is the box that is open now.If we press down on "Contact details", that box will turn blue, and it shows that we have highlighted that option.
- 10What this allows us to do is to get a phone number for our Skype application. This means that when we are phoning other people from our Skype application, then they'll be able to recognize who it is. It gives them something to acknowledge or identify. For example, if we're calling someone's home phone, and they want to phone us back or do call waiting, or if we call somebody, and they see our number, then they're actually going to recognize it as us. If they're not using the actual video messaging, they might not see our name come up on the screen if it's just a normal phone.Scroll down to where it says "Skype Numbers", and below that in blue text, "Get a Skype Number".
- 11This is what we need to press, "Get a Skype number".
- 12Once it loads, you will be asked, "What country would you like your Skype Number in?" Choose your actual country of residence.
- 13On the next screen, "Step 1" is to "Select area code" by pressing on the drop down menu arrow.
- 14Now, scroll through the list and choose an area.
- 15We can enter a favorite combination of numbers if desired.For "Step 2", "Choose one of the numbers available below or search for a favored combination".
- 16Alternatively, we can choose one of the suggested numbers at the bottom of the screen.
- 17We can also "Show ten new suggestions" by pressing down on that option.
- 18We're happy with the first suggested number, so we'll just press down on that.
- 19The number will then be displayed at the bottom of the screen, stating that it is our "new Skype Number".
- 20This is one of the primary reasons to choose a Skype number, in order to give some identity to the person who is calling. If you display this number when you call phones from Skype, people will know it is you who is calling them. Therefore, we're going to leave the box checked.We also have the option to check the box next to "Display this number when I call phones from Skype".
- 21"Continue" is in white text, and it's in a blue box. This will load up the next section of this application. It may be a bit slow to load.Next, we're going to press the "Continue" button.
- 22The screen states, "You are buying the Skype Number", and the new number is listed. We have the option of a 3-month subscription, or we can choose a 12-month subscription. It also says, "Please note, This is a recurring payment." We will need to pay every time the subscription automatically renews.Now, we have to pay for this process.
- 23Therefore, we can check the box next to, "I understand Skype Numbers are not refundable after purchase".
- 24We're not going to do that for this demonstration, but this shows how to set this up and do that.Then we put in our billing name and address in the text boxes in that section.
- 25It is a blue box with white text. Remember the credit card or debit card needs to have the same address as the billing address entered on the previous screen. After entering credit card details, press confirm. Then it will charge you and give you this number for the time chosen.When finished, press "Next" to enter credit card payment information.
