Get a 50s Makeup Look
Edited by Kara, MsBarbs, Dougie
Hi you're watching VisiHow, today I will show you how to make a 50s cat style makeup. We will make fat arrows on our eyes using an eyeshadow pencil.
Steps
1
Before we begin, we need to prepare our face we will need facial powder
.
I am using Mac to cover all the bumps and roughness and to hide any dark circles around our eyes, mouth, and nose. So let us start. It is a very fast process eyes, eyelids, especially, do not forget to go over your eyelids. Your face is like paper for an artist. If you have little imperfection like marks or pimples or whatever else, a foundation will help you.
2
Also, apply some to your neck for a more natural look
.
This will help to avoid having a mask line.
3
The next step is eyebrows, and my favorite thing I am going to be using Anastasia dipbrow pomade, medium brown
.
4
I am also using an Anastasia brush
.
5
The eyebrows help to frame your face and when you do not have eyebrows, it makes a huge difference
.
I prefer to have the bottom line infinite and unstoppable. I always start by defining bottom line of the eyebrow. This is what you need to do in order for your eyebrows to look natural and not painted on.
6
Now I am going to line the top part of the eyebrow, to create the top frame
.
We are framing up the eyebrows.
7
I have a frame literally around my eyebrow. We will do the same on the left eyebrow.
8
Let's proceed with lining the second eyebrow
.
Again, I line the lower eyebrow line, and the upper eyebrow line. This creates a frame around my eyebrow.
9
Now I have two eyebrows that are framed and ready to be colored in
.
It's very important to keep the beginning of your eyebrow lighter than the rest of the eyebrow in order to achieve a more natural look.
10
I will start coloring in the eyebrow in the middle, and I will gradually move to the beginning of the eyebrow
.
11
So, the part of my eyebrow that is supposed to be darker is colored in
.
You need to be very careful filling in the lighter part because if you make it to dark it will look funny. I will move bottom eyebrow line and try to apply very softly and we will brush it after we are done.
12
Brushing the eyebrow will help to blend in the colors
.
Okay now let's do the same thing with our left eyebrow. It is always easier to make perfect eyebrows when you have a frame to work with. This is done; we are now going to do the beginning. We are done with eyebrows.
13
I have noticed that some girls choose to follow unconventional eyebrow shaping techniques that look very strange to me
.
If you want to go for a natural look, and want to have beautiful eyebrows, you need to make sure your eyebrows start as the end of your nose, approximately here.
14
Okay, we need to highlight our eyebrows
.
We're going to use the lightest shadow for that. That is very important.
15
I'm going to use the same light shadow on my eyelids to help prepare them for the hard-core shadow pencil that we are going to be using
.
Remember we are going to be making fat arrows to imitate the cat look or the 50s look. Amy Winehouse often wore this type of look. Do not forget to highlight the inner corner of your eyes as well.
16
To make these arrows I am going to be using Maybelline's shadow pencil
.
It has a pencil on one end and a brush on the other end.
17
I'm going to start at the inner corner of my eye right next to the lash line and begin outlining my eyelid
.
This is a very thick pencil, it makes a thick line, and that is what we are going for. I am going to drag it all the way up to here so this is where our shadow will be coming from. I'm not trying to be perfect because right now I'm just framing the arrow.
18
I've already made the bottom line, now I will create the top line for our arrows
.
We are going to color the whole eyelid with this and don't worry if this is not as straight and as perfect as you want. It does not matter at this point because we will be blending it in.
19
This is what we have right now, it looks bad, we need to fill the space in now
.
It's just like a coloring book for kids.
20
Now, we are going to turn our pencil to the brush side and use it to brush the arrow
.
You want to pay special attention to the border.
21
So there is a little imperfection in this corner, I am going to wipe it with a cotton swab
.
I need to use the pencil again to make the color even. Okay I fixed it. Now that's brush it again.
22
We just finished the top eyelid and we need to add a little eyeshadow on the outside bottom corner, just a tiny bit.
23
Let's move to the left eye and contour the lash line
.
Make sure you keep the Q-tips nearby that way if you mess up you can wipe it off just as I did.
24
Now drawing the top frame, this is not a perfect shadow pencil but it's okay
.
There are other brands like Burjois , PUPA, and NYX. NYX is my favorite. We are using the field tools.
25
26
Let's make sure that they are level
.
27
I think the right eye is higher than the left, so I am going to add more to the left eye
.
28
I also need to wipe off the bottom corner because it is a little bit too much
.
It's fixed.
29
Let's brush it with the end of the pencil
.
Normally eye pencils have a sponge on the end, which allow you to brush the shade. Add some eyeshadow to the bottom corner, just a tiny bit.
30
We are done with our shadow
.
31
It is time to apply the mascara
.
Actually, any mascara is good but my favorite will always be mascara with a thick plastic brush. When I don't use mascara I feel bold.
32
Apply mascara to the bottom lashes
.
33
Do the same with the left eye
.
Oops, I think I put some mascara on my eyelid, but it's okay, we will fix it. It's not a problem.
34
Apply mascara to the bottom lashes
.
35
Okay, let me fix the mascara mess that I made, by wiping it off with a Q-tip
.
36
I have some mascara pieces on my cheeks and I'm just going to wipe them off with the brush
.
37
Because I already have on heavy eye makeup, I am going to use a light pink blush on my cheeks to complete the look
.
Okay, so suck in your cheeks to reveal the line on which you will be applying the blush.
38
I think I will go with a light pink lipstick just to match the blush, and so that the face will not look to heavy because of the dark shadows that I have
.
We will use L'Oréal pink lipstick.
39
I hope you like this look, if you have any questions. You can leave comments in the section below. Thank you.
