To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the right-hand side of the phone

Once the phone has been activated, swipe the lock screen up to get to the home screen

On the home screen, find the Vine tile
.
It has a turquoise background with the Vine logo, a capital V with a curl on one end, in the middle of the tile. It also may flip over quite often and flash images from previously viewed vines. If the Vine tile has not been pinned to the home screen, swipe left to find Maps in the application menu.

Once the Vine tile has been located, press it to enter the application

Press the screen to pause any vines that begin playing automatically

If a Vine user's name is highlighted in turquoise, press down on it to open that person's profile

On the profile page, there is a rectangular box with the word "Follow" on it

Press down on "Follow", and the rectangle will change in appearance
