Fix or Enable Missing Personal Hotspot on iPhone 6
Edited by Grimm, Rushell, Eng, DeleteQnA
You're watching VisiHow. In this tutorial, we are going to show you how to fix the missing Personal Hotspot option on an iPhone 6.
Steps
1
To begin, locate the Home button at the bottom center of the phone
.
One quick press on the Home button will open up the Lock screen.
2
Swipe across the Lock screen to enter a PIN or passcode
.
3
Alternatively, press and hold a finger or thumb print on the Home button to activate the fingerprint sensor, which will take us into the main screen of the phone
.
4
On the Home screen, we are looking for the "Settings" icon
.
This is a silver and gray box with a series of gears inside of it. It is labeled "Settings" at the bottom.
5
Once it has been found, press down on the "Settings" icon one time
.
6
This will take us to the "Settings" panel
.
We will now note that there is no personal hotspot in the top section.
7
To fix this, we need to first tap on "Cellular"
.
8
Then we need to find our "Cellular Data Network" option, and we are going to tap on that
.
9
We should now be on the "Cellular Data" panel
.
10
We want to scroll down to "PERSONAL HOTSPOT"
.
11
In order to enable our "PERSONAL HOTSPOT", we need to enter in an "APN"
.
Then we need to enter a "Username" and a "Password".
12
Tap on "APN" to bring up the keyboard
.
13
For our purposes, we are going to simply enter in "VisiHow.com"
.
The "APN" to be entered will be something specific to the network or carrier; however, in many cases we can enter in this information, and it will automatically work.
14
Now, we're going to enter the "Username" as "Visi", and we're going enter in our password as "Test123"
.
15
Now that we have our settings enabled, we can tap "return" at the bottom right corner of the keyboard
.
16
Do not tap on "Reset Settings" at the bottom
.
17
Instead, scroll back up, then tap on "Cellular" at the top left corner to go back
.
18
Tap on "Settings" at the top left to go back once more
.
19
Now, we need to restart our phone in order for the changes to take effect, so let's press the Home button one time
.
20
Now, we are going to press and hold the Power button on the right-hand side until the "Power" option comes up on the phone
.
21
Now, we can "slide to power off", so do that to power down the phone
.
22
Once that is done, press and hold the Power button again one time
.
23
The Apple logo will appear on the screen, which indicates the phone starting up, so simply wait for it to start
.
24
When we see the Lock screen, this indicates that our phone has started
.
25
Swipe across the screen, and then we will need to enter our PIN or passcode
.
The fingerprint will no longer function to unlock the phone until we have entered the passcode or PIN.
26
Once we have entered our passcode, it will take us to the Home screen of the phone, where once more we will be looking for the "Settings" icon
.
It is the silver and gray box with the series of gears in it.
27
Press one time on "Settings" to open that menu
.
28
Now, we will see the "Personal Hotspot" option has appeared, where it was previously unavailable
.
This means we can now create and set up our very own Personal Hotspot using the iPhone 6.
29
Let's press the Home button to return to the Home screen and begin using our phone as we were before
.
30
This concludes our tutorial on how to fix the missing Personal Hotspot, or hotspot option, on the iPhone 6
.
