Find Your Phone Number on Google Pixel and Pixel XL
Edited by Jay, Richard Teichmann
One of the clear and apparent downsides to the digital and smartphone age is our ability to remember phone numbers, and this includes our own from time-to-time. With all our contacts accessible within a tap or two, the inherent need to memorize numbers no longer exists, and as such, we may not remember our own number quite as quickly.
Another factor to consider is that we don't call ourselves often unless to access voice mail, and even then, it's most likely in your contact list with a speed dial number assigned to it. So, remembering your phone number, especially a newer one, can sometimes be a little challenging. If you've recently got a new device or number and need to access it quickly, there are a few simple things to follow to find it.
Although the steps below were completed on a Google Pixel, they will work just the same on any Android-powered device, running the Nougat OS.
Find My Phone Number Via Settings
If you can't recall your phone number upon request instantaneously, don't worry, you're not alone. Just ask a friend or family member what their number is the next time they get a new device or change their plan. Don't be surprised if you're met with a little hesitation or even an, "I don't know". As long as you follow the steps outlined above, you can access your phone number anytime.
Tips, Tricks, and Warnings
- If your phone number displays as "Unknown", power down your device and check that the SIM card is installed correctly.
- If your SIM card is properly installed and your number is still showing as "Unknown", contact your service provider for additional assistance.
- You can also add yourself as a contact with your phone numbers and email addresses.
- When you get a new number, write it down a few times, this will increase the likelihood of memorizing it faster.
