Hi, you're watching VisiHow. Today, I'm going to show you how to filter your hotel search results on the Kayak application when using an iPhone 6.
To begin, unlock the phone by pressing the lock button located on the right-hand side of the phone.
Alternatively, unlock the phone by pressing the home button on the front at the bottom of the phone.
Swipe across and enter a passcode if one is set up.
Instead of a passcode, press a finger to the home button to open the phone using the fingerprint scanner if this option is enabled. This opens the main screen.
For this demonstration, the applications are organized into folders. The Kayak application is located in the Travel folder so tap to open that folder.
Tap on the Kayak icon to open the application. The icon itself has an orange background and a white letter K on it.
The main menu consists of different options for "Flights," "Hotels," "Cars," etc.
Tap on the "Hotels" option. The icon to the left of "Hotels" has an image of a person lying on a bed. Search for a previous video on this website to find out exactly how to search for hotels on Kayak.
When the options are set as desired, press on "Find Hotels" at the bottom of the screen.
The spinning bed icon indicates the results are loading.
To filter the options on the next screen, tap on the icon tat looks like a funnel at the bottom of the screen. It is the second icon from the right.
Hotel results can be filtered by "Star" rating, "Brands," "Price," and "Distance."
Tap on options on the right side to include or remove them. Checkmarks on the right side of the screen mean those options are included.
Tap on the second option on the left, "Brands."
Several hotel names are listed on the right side of the screen, along with a search bar at the top to find a particular hotel chain.
Tap on "Price," the third option down on the left side.
Move the price point left and right on the bar at the top to choose a desired price range.
Tap on the switch below the price range to "Show hotels with no price." If the switch is orange, the option is enabled.
Tap on "Distance" on the left menu.
There are several charming phrases used by the Kayak application to describe different distances. For example, "stone's throw" at the top means it is very close, like a stone could be easily thrown to it. This is the closest option. A "hop, skip & a jump" is a tiny bit further. Other options going down from that include, "easy walk," "longer walk," "wicked long walk," "short drive," "pretty far," and "infinity."
Press on the distance option to add a checkmark on the right-hand side. Choosing one option includes all of the distance options above it.
To restart from the beginning, press "Reset" at the bottom left corner of the screen.
Tap on the funnel icon at the bottom of the screen again.
Change the included amount of "Stars."
Then tap on "Distance," and choose one of the closer options.
Press "Apply" in the middle at the bottom of the screen.
The list of hotels has now changed to correspond with the new options.
