You're watching VisiHow. In this tutorial, we are going to show you how you can perform a Factory Reset of your Kindle Paperwhite, and reset the device back to it's original settings. Just like it was when you first opened it.

   To get started, we are going to go to the bottom of the Kindle and push the Power button one time

   .

   A quick press on the power button is going to open up the Lock screen.

   We will now swipe across the screen to unlock our Kindle Paperwhite

   Once we have unlocked the device, we will be inside of the Kindle

   From the Kindle Home screen, we will look for the top, right-hand menu and give it a single press

   This menu is represented by three, horizontal lines. This is also called a "hot dog menu".

   When we press this, it is going to open up the initial series of short menus

   Next we will need to press the "Menu" icon a second time

   This will open up the a second menu for us, giving us the option to "Reset Device"

   Tap the option "Reset Device" one time

   .

   This will present us with a pop up menu. This pop up informs us what resetting our device will do. It will remove all content downloaded onto the device, additionally resetting all of our settings. We will still be able to download items that we had previously on the Cloud, but this only works if we sign back in with the same Login. If we are not planning to do so, resetting our Kindle will return it to the same condition it was when we first received it. With no information, no settings, no books, and nothing else attached to it.

    The name for the device will often stay after a device reset, this will need to be changed manually if we plan to sell or trade this device
