Steps

    We tap and swipe down the screen from the top of the home screen

    We will be able to bring down the notification panel.

    In the top right-hand corner, we will find the Settings icon

    The icon has a gear or wheel shape. We tap the icon once to access Settings.

    Once in Settings, we tap on the "General" menu
    .
    The first section will be "Accounts and backup". The third option will be "Backup and reset".

    We tap on "Backup and reset" once
    .
    The last option shown will be "Personal data". There is the "Factory data reset" option, which resets all of the settings and deletes all of the data on the device.

    If we would like to continue, we tap on "Factory data reset"
    .
    The "Factory data reset" option will warn us:
    • All data will be erased from device memory, including your Google account, system and application data, settings, and downloaded applications.
      * Music
      * Photos
      * Other user data
      * The decryption key for files on the SD card
      (You cannot use encrypted files on the SD card after you reset your device to factory defaults)

      We will be shown to into which accounts we are currently signed. All of the account data will be erased from the device.

    If we would like to continue, we tap on "Reset device" and follow the prompts and options

    We will need to enter our security code, and we will be prompted to delete all of the data.
