Steps

In order to enable airplane mode, you need to have your Tab unlocked and on the home screen or any other screen that allows you access to the notifications panel

To access the notifications panel, swipe down from the top of your device

On the notifications panel, scroll over to the right, if you are using a stock device with factory settings
.
One of the icons will be "Airplane mode". Tap this icon one time.

The airplane icon will turn green, meaning that "Airplane mode" is turned on or enabled
.

You can tap the icon one more time to turn off or disable this feature
.

When you have finished, press the "Home" button on your device to return to the home screen
.

Another way to turn on airplane mode is to swipe down from the top of your device to access the notifications panel

On the notifications panel, click the gear-shaped settings icon.

In the settings menu, tap the third option on the left side of the screen for "Airplane mode"

You will see that airplane mode is currently in the "Off" position
.
If you go to the right side of the screen, you will also see a switch. Tapping this switch once turns airplane mode on.

Tapping the same switch one more time will turn airplane mode off

When you have finished, press the "Home" button one time to return to the home screen and continue using your device as normal
