Hello, and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to turn on and off the option to allow websites to save and read cookies in Google Chrome on an HTC One M8.
Steps
- 1Once the phone has been activated, we'll see the lock screen.To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button, located on top of the phone.
- 2Once the phone has been unlocked, we'll see the home screen. At the bottom, there will be icons.To unlock the phone, press down on the screen and swipe up.
- 3To do that, we need this icon at the bottom of the home screen, in the middle. It looks like a grid, made up of white dots. Press down on this icon to open up our applications folder.It is one of these icons that we now need, to open up the applications folder.
- 4Mine is located here. We can see the Google Chrome icon, which is a circle made up of different colors. Underneath, it says the word "Chrome". Our Google Chrome application may be in different positions in this folder. Therefore, we will need to find it. Once we've done that, press down on it, to enter the application.In this folder, we need to find the Google Chrome application.
- 5It looks like three small black dots in a vertical line. Press down on this icon, and it will open up a menu.Once the application has opened, we need this icon, in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
- 6It says the word "Settings" here. It will open up our "Settings" menu.In this menu, we need to scroll down until we find the "Settings" section.
- 7It says the word "Advanced" in blue writing.Let's scroll down until we get to the "Advanced" section.
- 8Press down on this section, and it will take us into the "Site settings" menu.In this section, we want the option that says "Site settings".
- 9It has the icon of a cookie next to it. Underneath, it says, "Allowed". That means that this option is currently selected. Press down on this section. We want the first option at the top. It says, "Cookies: Allow sites to save and read cookie data (recommended)." This is recommended because many sites will not work properly if we don't allow them to save and read cookie data. We won't be able to access things; they may not work properly. It can make it difficult for us to use websites if we don't allow them to save and read cookies. Currently, the option is activated; the icon beside it is blue.We want the option near the top that says, "Cookies".
- 10It will give us more anonymity, and there will be less data collected about us. The icon will turn gray, and underneath cookies will say "Block all sites." This means that no site will be able to share or read cookies.If we want to deactivate this option and block all cookies, then press down on the icon.
- 11It will turn blue, and the option is activated again.If we want to turn this option on, then press down on the icon.
