    To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone

    Once the phone has been activated we will see the lock screen.

    To unlock the phone, swipe the screen up

    Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see 5 icons. We now need to open the application folder.

    We can do that by tapping the icon in the middle, at the bottom of the screen

    There is a grid of white dots. This is the icon for the applications folder.

    Now that the folder has been opened, we need to find and tap the Facebook application
    .
    There is a Facebook icon, which is a blue background with a white "f" inside, and underneath it says the word "Facebook". Your application may be in a different location, so look for the icon in your folder.

    Scroll up or down to find "App Settings", and tap on it

    There will be a gray circle with a white gear inside. This will open up the app settings menu.

    Tap on the "Notifications" option

    We want the first option, "Vibrate"

    This option is currently activated, indicated by the blue switch on the right-hand side. If we receive any notifications from Facebook, then our HTC One M8 will vibrate. If we don't want the phone to vibrate, we can press down on the switch until it is white.
