Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to turn on or off the option to show notifications when the HTC One M8 is locked.

   To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone

   .

   Once the phone is activated we will see the lock screen. This is where we will see notifications. There will be white bars notifying us. We can turn this option on or off, and that's what we're going to show you right now.

   To unlock the phone, press down on the screen and swipe up

   .

   Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen and at the bottom we will see 5 icons.

   We need to find the settings menu and to do that, we can swipe the notification panel down

   To do that, press and hold at the top of the phone, then swipe down. The notification panel will appear.

   We are looking for the gear icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen

   This is our settings icon. Press down on it to open up the settings menu. It will say "Settings" in the top left-hand corner of the screen.

   We need to scroll down until we get to the "PHONE" section, then tap on "Sound & notification"

   .

   There is a speaker icon next to it emanating some sound waves. Press down on this option to open the sound and notification options.

   Scroll down to the bottom so that we're in the "NOTIFICATION" section, then tap on "When the device is locked" with the current setting under it

   Press down on it to see the two options. We can't really edit it which notifications we will receive when the device is locked, it's either all or nothing.

   As we can see, it's currently set to "Show all notification content"

   We can leave it that setting if we want to.

   We can change it to "Don't show notifications at all"

   It will not show any notifications.

   Pressing down on an option will take us back to the sound and notification settings and we can see the current setting under "When the device is locked"
