Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to turn on and off notifications about birthdays in Facebook on an HTC One M8.

   To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone

   Once the phone has been activated we will see the lock screen.

   To unlock the phone, swipe the screen up

   Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see 5 icons. We now need to open the application folder.

   We can do that by tapping the icon in the middle, at the bottom of the screen

   There is a grid of white dots. This is the icon for the applications folder.

   Now that the folder has been opened, we need to find and tap the Facebook application

   There is a Facebook icon, which is a blue background with a white "f" inside, and underneath it says the word "Facebook". Your application may be in a different location, so look for the icon in your folder. We now need to find the account settings.

   To do that, we need to tap the menu icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen

   Scroll up or down to find "Account Settings", and tap on it

   There will be a gray circle with a white head and shoulders and gear inside. This will open up the account settings menu.

   We will have one option here, "Get notifications". This option is currently activated, indicated by the box with the blue check mark. We are receiving notifications about our friends' birthdays on Facebook.

   If we don't want to receive notifications about birthdays, we can press down on the box until it is empty

   We will return to the "Notifications" page, where we will see "Changes saved." at the top. We can change this option at any time.

    If we press down on this option again to change it, we will see the option turn blue but not open.
