Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to turn on or off the daydream function on an HTC One M8.

Steps

    To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone
    .
    Once the phone is activated we will see the lock screen.

    To unlock the phone, press down on the screen and swipe up

    Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen and at the bottom we will see 5 icons.

    We need to find the settings menu and to do that, we can swipe the notification panel down
    .
    To do that, press and hold at the top of the phone, then swipe down. The notification panel will appear.

    We are looking for the gear icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen
    .
    This is our settings icon. Press down on it to open up the settings menu. It will say "Settings" in the top left-hand corner of the screen.

    We need to scroll down until we get to the "PHONE" section, then tap on "Display & gestures"

    There is a phone icon next to it. Press down on this option to open the display and gestures options.

    Tap on "Daydream" at the bottom of the "DISPLAY section
    .
    This brings up the daydream options. We want to demonstrate how to turn this option on or off. If the daydream function is on, when our phone times out, it will daydream. This means it can show photos, colors or news & weather. It does take up some battery life even though it is nice to look at.

    At the top, in the black bar, there is a switch that will say "ON" or "OFF"
    .
    It is currently green and says it's "ON". Tap on that switch to turn the option off.

    Now it says "OFF" and it's just a gray area instead of green
    .
    The phone says, "To control what happens when the phone is docked and/or sleeping, turn daydream on. If we do want to turn this option back on, we can tap on the same switch.

    It daydreams as if it's staring into a rainbow. As we can see, it is using more battery life rather than letting the phone sleep. Tap on the screen to go back to the options.

Remove any third-party volume controlling applications that you have installed recently. Install SoundAbout, which will allow you to force output into the earpiece. Clean your USB port just in case. Use compressed air to clean the USB port of your phone.

Clear partition cache.
