Edited by Thor, Crystal, Eng
Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to turn on or off the option to suggest options for the current word that you are writing on the HTC One M8.
Steps
1
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone
.
Once the phone is activated we will see the lock screen.
2
To unlock the phone, press down on the screen and swipe up
.
Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen and at the bottom we will see 5 icons. We will first show how the function works. It allows the phone to suggestions options for us when we are currently writing a word. This option is already enabled because it is a default setting on the HTC One M8. Let's show you how it works.
3
Tap on the Messages icon on the bottom
.
It is a white text box with 3 green horizontal lines in the middle.
4
Choose a message to use by tapping on it
.
5
Tap on "Add text" in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen
.
6
We're going to write "Morning"; after writing "Morn" it is already suggesting "Morning" for us
.
It is suggesting words while we write. Some may like this or it may frustrate some, but we can turn this option on or off.
7
To do that, tap the back arrow in the bottom left corner
.
Press down on that multiple times until we get back to the home screen.
8
We need to find the settings menu and to do that, we can swipe the notification panel down
.
To do that, press and hold at the top of the phone, then swipe down. The notification panel will appear.
9
We are looking for the gear icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen
.
This is our settings icon. Press down on it to open up the settings menu. It will say "Settings" in the top left-hand corner of the screen.
10
Tap on "Language & keyboard"
.
It will be in the "PHONE" section near the bottom. We will see a capital "A" inside of a 3D box.
11
We want to tap on "HTC Sense Input - Keyboard options"
.
This will open up the keyboard settings.
12
Tap on "Advanced" with "More input settings" underneath of it
.
13
Tap on the checkbox to the right of "Next word prediction - Suggest options for next word while typing"
.
It is currently enabled, as we showed earlier. There is a green box with a white checkmark in it. Tapping on the checkbox will turn the option off.
14
The checkmark has disappeared and the box is now white
.
This means the option is off.
15
Tap on the checkbox to turn it back on
.
The box will turn green and have a white checkmark.
16
This concludes the tutorial on how to turn on or off to suggest words for the current word that you are writing on an HTC One M8
.
