Steps

In order to enable the split keyboard on the iPad, tap on the "Settings" option first

From "Settings", tap on "General"

This will open up the "General" panel.

Scroll the "General" panel down until you find "Keyboard"

Then, confirm that "Split Keyboard" is turned on

If "Split Keyboard" is turned off. There will be a little white circle with a gray area around it.

If "Split Keyboard" is turned off, tap on its toggle

The toggle will switch to the color green, which indicates that the option is turned on.

Open any application where you normally type

Let's open the Messages application by tapping on it.

Now, tap on the message section

This is where we would normally enter a new message.

To enable the split keyboard, tap and hold the keyboard icon in the bottom-right side

This opens up a pop-up menu.

Drag your finger to "Split"

It will turn blue.

The keyboard will split up. You will have a keyboard part on either side.

To switch the keyboard back to normal, simply tap and hold the keyboard icon

Drag your finger to "Dock and Merge"

Your keyboard will move to the bottom and merge.
