Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to edit the auto-advance in the Gmail application on an HTC One M8.

   To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone

   .

   Once the phone has been activated we will see the lock screen.

   To unlock the phone, swipe the screen up

   Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see 5 icons. We now need to open the application folder.

   We can do that by tapping the icon in the middle, at the bottom of the screen

   There is a grid of white dots. This is the icon for the applications folder.

   Now that the folder has been opened, we need to find and tap the Gmail application

   There is a Gmail icon, which is an envelope with a red 'M', and underneath it says the word "Gmail". Your application may be in a different location, so look for the icon in your folder. We now need to find the settings menu.

This allows us to make a choice about what we do after we archive or delete something. For example, if we have an email and we archive or delete it, then the action the Gmail application will take is to show us a new message. If we press down on this section, we will see that there are 3 options.

   This is what will happen after we delete or archive a message. We can choose to see a new message, an old message, or go to the conversation list. We can see that "Newer" is currently selected, indicated by the turquoise circle.
