Edited by Thor, Alexander Avdeev, Eng
Hello! Welcome to VisiHow! In this video, we are going to show how to edit the setting for the authentication requirement for purchases in the Google Play Store on the HTC One M8.
Steps
1
To begin, we turn the phone on by pressing the Power button located on top of the phone
.
2
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the Lock screen
.
To unlock the phone, we swipe the screen upwards. Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the Home screen; and there will be icons at the bottom of the screen. We need one of the icons on the bottom because we want to open up the applications folder.
3
To open up the applications folder, we need to tap the icon located at the bottom of the Home screen
.
The icon is a grid of white dots, and it stands for the applications folder. We tap it to open up the folder.
4
We need to find the Play Store application
.
It is located in the applications folder. The application has the icon of a white shopping bag with a triangular shape inside with "Play Store" written underneath.
5
We tap the icon to open up the Google Play Store application
.
6
We need to find the "Settings" menu
.
The menu can be accessed through the icon in the top left-hand corner of the screen. The icon has three horizontal lines.
7
We tap the icon to open up the side menu
.
8
We need to tap the icon close to the bottom that says the word "Settings"
.
We tap this word to open up our "Settings" menu.
9
We scroll down until we get to the "User controls" section in turquoise
.
We need the "Require authentication for purchases" option. The current selected option will be written beneath. In this example, it is "For all purchases through Google Play on this device".
10
We tap the "Require authentication for purchases" option
.
The currently selected option will be identified by the green circle. In this example, it means that every time that we make a purchase through Play Store on this device, it will require authentication.
11
We can edit the choice, as there are two other options
.
The other options are "Every 30 minutes" and "Never". We can choose to never have to authenticate ourselves for purchases. We can choose to authenticate our identity every 30 minutes.
12
If we want to choose one of the options, we just tap one of them
.
Let's tap "Never" to choose it, for example. The phone is going to ask us to enter our password by saying "Disabling authentication may result in unauthorized purchases. You assume responsibility for all charges". The phone asks us to enter our password. We can do that now.
13
Let's try to enter our password now
.
14
We have successfully entered our password, and we have changed the authentication option. The "Require authentication for purchases" option now says "Never" underneath it.
15
If we want to change the option, we tap it again
.
16
Now, we can change it to any of the other options
.
At the bottom the menu says "Authentication is always required for purchases through Google Play within apps designated for ages 12 and under". We have to bear that in mind.
17
We are going to change the option back to the first option, "For all purchases through Google Play on this device" by tapping it
.
The phone is going to ask to confirm our password again, as we need to do this whenever we are changing the option.
18
Let's enter the password now
.
19
Now, the password has been successfully entered. The option under "Require authentication for purchases" will change.
