A Google account setup on your device will allow you to perform backup procedures, sync data from your phone to the web and vice versa, and permits you to download application from the Play Store. During the initial booting of your device, you were asked to setup a Google account for your Galaxy S5. If you were not able to setup during the first startup, then you can associate your Android device with a Google account by reading through with the whole article.

To be able to use most of Google's services on your phone, you need to setup a Google account on your Samsung Galaxy S5. To sign in to Google with your Samsung Galaxy S5, follow the procedures below:

   Get to your phone's Home screen.

   

   • You can get to your Galaxy S5's Home screen by pressing on the Home button once or by tapping on the Back key for a few times.

   From the Home screen, pull down the Status bar to view the Notification panel.

   

   • To pull down the Status bar, do a swiping gesture from the Status bar (top-most portion of your screen) to the lower part of it.

   From the Notification Panel, tap on the Settings icon located on the upper-right part of the phone's screen (second to the right-most icon).

   You will now be taken to the Settings menu, scroll down until you will go to Users and Backup and tap on Accounts.

   From the Accounts page, tap on Add account to add an account into your Samsung Galaxy S5.

    You will be notified if the username that you have chosen is unique, if it is already used, you can modify the username by adding more letters or digits to it

    Type in a secured password and confirm it on the next tab by retyping the same password. You password can be a combination of alphanumeric and special characters. Take note that passwords are case-sensitive.

    Choose a security question from the list of pre-listed questions

    Enter your secret answer. Make sure that only you know of the answer. Avoid obvious questions with obvious answers that your friends will be able to identify. Also, enter the recovery email address in case you need to recover your account information.
