Steps

You should have Illustrator open and a document ready

Click "Paintbrush Tool" from the toolbar on the left side of your screen

First, you can click and change your fill and stroke colors

Then, click and drag the mouse around the canvas to start drawing

It will look quite rugged until you let go of your cursor

Then, Illustrator will smooth and perfect the lines for you.

Along the horizontal toolbar at the top of the window, you can click and change your stroke and fill colors, "Stroke Weight", the shape of your brush and also "Opacity"

You can also double-click the "Paintbrush Tool" icon in your vertical toolbar to bring up the brush settings

You can adjust the "Fidelity" and "Smoothness" values by dragging the scrollers to the left and right

Alternatively, you can just type the numbers into the boxes on the right side of the scrollers.

You can also check or uncheck the boxes in the "Options" section

In particular, "Edit Selected Paths", which edits other drawn lines within the pixel value selection below. It is recommend leaving this option checked.

Click "OK" to apply your settings
