To begin, unlock the phone by pressing the top right-hand-side power button

Swipe upwards one time to get to the home screen

Find the Amazon Kindle icon on the home screen

It says "kindle" on it in orange text.

If it's not on the home screen, access the application through the Apps menu

The icon is gray with a bunch of white boxes inside of it. For now, we will open up the mobile app directly from the home screen by tapping the icon one time. This takes us to the home page for the app.

To access our options, press the icon directly to the left of the Kindle icon in the top left-hand corner

It looks like three lines. A menu pops up. We can so a "Search", a "Sync", visit the "Store", view items in our library, as well as access our account settings.

Tap "Store"

We will go to the Kindle Store because we do want to do a search of the store for some free eBooks.

Tap right in the search box at the top of the screen

Select a suggested search

We will select "free Kindle books", the first suggestion, by tapping on it one time. This brings up the search results page for this query. We can find a listing of current free titles for Kindle.
