Disable and Manage Notifications on Samsung Galaxy S8
Edited by Jay
Application and system notifications are not only necessary but also quite convenient. Knowing in real-time the moment something happens or changes without having to navigate to the app itself, is a huge time saver. The downside to this convenience, however, is there may be times when you would rather not see notifications from selected or even all your running apps.
If for example, you're in do not disturb mode, you can set an app's notifications to both sound and display (light up the screen). The flexibility of choosing which apps display notifications is one of the many excellent features found on Android-powered devices.
Below we will take you through the steps on how to; edit notification settings, access and manage individual app data, and reset notifications back to default. The following steps were completed using a Samsung Galaxy S8 running the Nougat OS. However, any Android device with Nougat will function the same.

Tips, Tricks and Warnings
- Always pay careful attention to which apps you edit notification settings on. Accidentally disabling notifications on your messenger app, for example, could be a bit of a nuisance (or blessing if you need a break from digital distractions).
- When you install a new application, it's always good to set the notification settings right away. Typically, you'll see which notifications are displayed or sounded during the installation process, but you may wish to customize them.
