Disable Incoming Calls (Call Barring) on Samsung Galaxy s4 Marshmallow vs Lollipop vs Jelly Bean/Kitkat

Edited by Lynn, Eng, Monika, Leomar Umpad and 19 others

This wiki was split from the "How to disable TalkBack Mode" wiki into its own page because it is a different feature.

Disabling incoming/outgoing calls is sometimes necessary. If you want to ensure your device is never used to make long-distance or international calls, call barring is a reliable option. This can prove handy when you need to keep your phone's minutes down and can stop you from getting a surprise bill one month with a bunch of racked-up long-distance charges. If you were to temporarily lose your device, you can be sure it won't be used in an international calling spree.

Call barring is a function that's controlled by your mobile service provider. Although the steps below will show you how to access and enable call barring, you'll still need to obtain a pin code/password from your carrier to use this feature.

  • Disable incoming calls using Blocking Mode feature on S4

Aside from Call Barring, there is also another way to block incoming calls to your device. You can use Blocking Mode in Samsung Galaxy S4 to block any incoming calls on your device. What makes Blocking Mode even better than Call Barring is that it allow you to have an "allowed list" that will not be blocked from contacting you. This means that people who are important may be allowed to make incoming calls to you without any problems. Aside from the allowed list, you can also choose to set the blocking all the time, or set specific time range for it.

    Tips Tricks & Warnings

    • If you choose "Incoming When Roaming", it means that you will not receive any calls if you bring your phone abroad. The call will not go through because your network will reject your incoming calls.

    Questions and Answers

What would my password be for barring call?

Trying to make and receive phone calls

You should be the one who has set the password for barring calls. You would usually fill this in when your device is still new. You can choose not to enable this, as long as you do not fill in any passwords. If there is already a password in place, you were the one who assigned that.

Was this helpful? Yes | No| I need help

If you really can't remember the password anymore, you can call your service provider and just request them to be the done to do the barring for certain phone numbers. In fact, this is usually a much more reliable option.
