Disable App Installations with Screen Time on iPhone and iPad
Edited by Jay
Use Screen Time to disable app installs on your iPhone or iPad temporarily. Because deleting or removing the App Store is impossible (for obvious reasons), Screen Time offers an excellent solution when you don't want new applications installing on your device.
Why Would Need to Disable App Installs?
If you find yourself installing too many applications, you could find yourself getting distracted for a bit too long. Screen Time's primary purpose was to limit and control device usage; disabling app installations is one of the many ways it does. Another instance this feature could prove useful is when a child is using the device. Many free apps display ads, and often those ads are for other apps available in the App Store. Using Screen Time in this situation will eliminate those ghost-installations to which you have no recollection.
In the following Visi guide, we're going to cover disabling app installations using Screen Time. For this tutorial, we used an iPhone 7 running iOS 14.
***PLEASE NOTE*** Screen Time is available on devices running iOS/iPadOS 12 or higher.
