Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to delete an individual message in a chat when using the Skype application on a Microsoft Lumia 535.

To get started, turn the phone on by pressing the power button on the right-hand side of the phone

This will bring up the lock screen.

Once the lock screen has been activated, swipe up to unlock the phone and access the home screen

Find and press the Skype tile to open the application

We can see the tile near the middle of the screen on this device. It has a blue background with the Skype logo in the middle. If the Skype tile is not pinned to the home screen, swipe left and find it in the apps menu. We want to demonstrate how to delete an individual message in a chat when using the Skype application, and to do that we first need a chat.

To find a chat, we need to find a contact in the "recent" section
.
It will say "recent" at the top of the screen in a darker blue text.

Alternatively, we can swipe left or right to go to the "people" section

We can find all of our contacts here.

Press down on the name or profile photo of the chosen contact

This will allow us to enter the conversation with them.

We want to be in the "chat" section
.
It will say "chat" in the top left-hand corner in dark blue. If it's not dark blue, swipe across until it is. Once we're in the chat section, we can delete an individual message. Perhaps there is something that we said that we regretted, or it doesn't need to be there anymore, but we don't want to delete the whole chat. For whatever reason, this will allow us to delete a message.

We can simply press and hold down on the message we wish to delete

A dark blue box with options will appear

The options are "edit", "copy", and right at the bottom it says, "remove message".

Tap on "remove message"

Now we can see it says, "this message has been removed"

Therefore, we have successfully removed the message from this chat. It is important to remember that we can only delete our own messages, we cannot delete any messages written by somebody else.
