One of the more popular things people like to do on a smartphone or tablet is browsing the internet. All browsers (not including private) keep track of the websites you visit, along with other data such as; cookies, saved logins, cache, images, and search and form history. After a while, these files can add up and in some instances, slow down your browser's performance. Clearing your history and other private data from time-to-time is a good habit to get into, especially if you share the device with others.
Android devices support a wide range of mobile browsers, so there are no specific steps to delete your browsing history and personal data. Although most work the same way, there are slight variations between them. That said, we've covered 12 of the most popular Android Browsers in this tutorial.
For this article, we use A Google Pixel running Android Oreo, and a Samsung Galaxy S8 running Android Nougat.

Clear History and Private Data in Firefox
- 1From the home screen or app drawer, tap the "Firefox" shortcut.
- 2Once Firefox is open, tap the three-dot menu in the upper right corner, followed by "Settings".
- 3On the Settings screen, tap "Clear private data".
- 4When the Clear private data menu appears, place a checkmark next to each option you wish to delete, then tap "CLEAR DATA".
Delete Personal Data for Samsung Internet
- 1Launch "Samsung Internet" from either the home screen or app tray.
- 2Once the browser opens, tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner, then tap "Settings".
- 3On the INTERNET SETTINGS screen, tap "Privacy".
- 4From the PRIVACY screen, tap "Delete personal data".
- 5When the Delete personal data menu appears, select the options you want to clear, then tap "DELETE".
Clear Browsing Data in Google Chrome
- 1From either the home screen or app drawer, tap the "Chrome" shortcut.

Once Chrome is open, tap the three-dot menu in the upper right corner, followed by "Settings".

From inside Settings, tap "Privacy".

On the Privacy screen, tap "Clear browsing data".

From Clear browsing data, select what you want to be deleted, then tap "CLEAR DATA"

To expand additional browsing data options, tap the "Advanced" tab.
Clear Data in Dolphin Browser
- 1Launch Dolphin browser from the home screen or app tray.
- 2With the browser open, tap the little dolphin icon in the center near the bottom of the screen, then tap "CLEAR DATA".
- 3On the CLEAR DATA screen, place a checkmark next to the options you want to be deleted, then tap "Clear selected data".
Clear Browsing Data in Opera
- 1Open up Opera from your app drawer or home screen.
- 2Once Opera is open, tap the "O" icon in the lower right corner, then tap "Settings".
- 3From Settings, tap "Clear browsing data...".
- 4When the Clear browsing data box pops-up, check the options you wish to clear, then tap "OK".
Clear Browsing Data in Opera Mini
- 1From the home screen or app tray, tap the "Opera Mini" shortcut.
- 2With Opera Mini open, tap the "O" icon in the bottom right corner, then when the menu appears, tap the Settings gear icon.
- 3On the Settings screen, tap "Clear browsing data...".
- 4Once the Clear browsing data box appears, select the options you want to delete, followed by "OK".
Clear Browsing data in Microsoft Edge
- 1Launch Microsoft Edge from the home screen or app drawer.
- 2When the Edge browser is open, tap the three-dot menu in the lower right corner, then tap "Settings".
- 3On the Settings screen, tap "Privacy".
- 4From Privacy, tap "Clear browsing data".
- 5To change the time range, tap the drop-down arrow, then select how far back you want to delete the data.On the Clear browsing data screen, place a checkmark next to each item you wish to delete, then tap "Clear".

Clear History in Ghostery Browser
- 1Open "Ghostery" by tapping the shortcut on the home screen or in the app tray.
- 2With Ghostery open, tap the three-dot menu in the upper right corner, then tap the gear icon in the top right of the menu.
- 3From the My Settings screen, tap "Clear history".
- 4Once the Clear box pops-up, choose what data you want to delete, then click "OK".
Clear User Data in CM Browser
- 1On the home screen or app drawer, tap "CM Browser".
- 2When CM Browser is open, tap the hamburger menu in the bottom center of the screen, followed by "Clear data".
- 3When the Clear user data pop-up appears, select what you want to be deleted, then tap "CLEAR".
Clear Data in Yandex Browser
- 1Launch "Yandex Browser" from your home screen or app tray.
- 2From the main screen, tap the hamburger menu in the search box, then tap "Settings".
- 3On the Settings screen, tap "Clear data".
- 4From the Clear data screen, check each option you want to be deleted, then tap the "Clear data" button".
Clear Browsing data in Brave Browser
- 1From the home screen or app tray, tap "Brave Browser".
- 2With Brave browser open, tap the three-dot menu in the upper right corner, followed by "Settings".
- 3On Settings, tap "Privacy".
- 4From the Privacy screen, tap "Clear browsing data".
- 5To choose how far back the data will be cleared, tap the drop-down in the Time range section.Once on the Clear browsing data screen, place a checkmark to the items you wish to remove, then tap "CLEAR DATA".
- 6To view more data options, tap the "Advanced" tab.
Clear History in Phoenix Browser
- 1Open PHX Browser by tapping the shortcut on the home screen or in the app drawer.
- 2When Phoenix Browser opens, tap the hamburger menu in the lower right corner, then tap Settings gear.
- 3On the Settings screen, tap "Clear history".
- 4From the Clear history screen, choose the items you want to delete, then tap "OK".
