Hello, and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to customize the search engine used in the Google Chrome application, on an HTC One M8.
Steps
- 1This button is located on top of the phone.To begin, we need to turn the phone on by pressing the Power button.
- 2Once the phone has been activated, we will see the Lock screen.
- 3To unlock the phone, we will press down on the screen and swipe upwards.
- 4At the bottom of the screen, there will be a row of five icons. It is one of these icons that we now need to tap to open up the Applications folder.Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the Home screen.
- 5This icon features a grid, made up of white dots.We will now tap the center icon, located at the bottom of the screen.
- 6This will open up our Application folder for us.
- 7We can see that this application features the Google Chrome icon, which is a big circle made up of four colors. Underneath of this icon, the word "Chrome" will be written in white text. Everyone phone will have this application in a different spot, depending on where we personally placed it.In this folder, we need to find the Google Chrome application.
- 8In this video tutorial, we want to show you how to customize the search engine that is used. The default search engine is, unsurprisingly, Google. However, we can change this and use a different search engine if we would like.We will now press down on the Google Chrome application icon one time, this will launch the application.
- 9This icon features three, small, black dots in a vertical line.We now need to tap on the icon in the top, right-hand corner of the screen.
- 10This will open up a white menu for us.
- 11We now want to tap on the second last option, labeled "Settings".
- 12We will now be taken to the Settings menu for Google Chrome.
- 13Underneath, "Google (Google.com)" will be written. This is because this is the current search engine that is selected. It is also the default search engine for Google Chrome.We now want to tap the first option in the "Basics" section, labeled "Search engine".
- 14In this list, we have Yahoo, Bing, Ask, and AOL. We can choose to use any of these search engines if we would prefer to use one of them.We can see now that a window has opened, giving us different search engine options.
- 15For example, we will tap "Bing (bing.com)".To choose an option, we simply need to press down on it.
- 16This is something we will have to change later if we would like to.We can see it will now say "Location is blocked" underneath of the selected option.
- 17We can also see that the circle to the left of "Bing (bing.com) has been filled with a blue dot.
- 18We will now press one "CLOSE", located in the bottom, right-hand corner of our "Search engine" option box.
- 19This confirms that we have changed the search engine.We can now see that underneath of the "Search engine" option, it will say "Bing (bing.com)".
- 20To change that search engine another time, simply tap on "Search engine" once again.
- 21This will open up the option box for us, where we can select a new search engine.
