Hello, and welcome to VisiHow. In this video we are going to show you how to customize the power saving function on an HTC One M8.
Steps
1
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button located on top of the phone
.
2
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the lock screen
.
3
To unlock the phone, press down on the screen, hold down, and swipe up
.
4
Once the phone is unlocked, we will be taken to the home screen, which we can see here
.
5
Now we need to find the settings menu
.
We need to swipe down the notification panel.
6
Press down on top of the screen, right at the top
.
Press down and swipe down.
7
This will bring up the notification panel
.
8
In the top right hand corner, there is an icon
.
It looks like a white gear icon. This is the settings icon. Press down on it.
9
Our settings menu will open
.
10
Scroll down until we find the 'Power' option
.
Here is the word 'Power'. Beside it, is a battery icon with a lightning bolt inside. Press down on the word 'Power'. It's going to bring up our power options.
11
In this menu, we want the option called 'Power saver, Optimize battery life'
.
12
When we turn this function on, it allows us to save battery
.
It allows us to make some changes to our phone, the HTC One M8, allowing us to use less battery. Instead of just turning it on or off, we can customize the changes or choices. To do this, press down on the words 'Power saver'.
13
Here we can see there are four options
.
There aren't many options, but it allows us to customize what this function does. There are white checks inside every one of these green boxes. That means they have all been selected.
14
By pressing down on one of the boxes, we can deselect them
.
15
When we see the tick is gone, and there is only a white box, it means it has been deselected
.
16
If we press down on it again, we can see that the check is now inside of the box again
.
17
There are four options that we can set
.
The first is 'Conserve CPU usage'. This is the central processing unit. When conserving CPU usage, it's going to make the CPU use less power by focusing only on the most important tasks, and not running non-essential tasks.
18
The second option is to 'Reduce screen brightness'
.
This function reduces the brightness of the screen to save battery, when we push on the 'Power saver' icon.
19
The third option is 'Vibration, Turn off vibration feedback'
.
20
The final option is 'Data connection, Put to sleep when screen is off'
.
This means, that when the screen is off, it puts the data connection to sleep.
21
All of these are selected because they all help to save battery life
.
They help to conserve power. However, we may want to turn display off, to have a brighter screen, while still using the power saver function. To do this, press down on the check for the display option.
22
Now, when we turn on the 'Power saver' function, the brightness will stay the same because we have deselected it from this list
.
23
Let's press down on it again, because it's useful to have it
.
24
This is how we customize our 'Power saver' function
.
Once we select or turn it on, these are the choices we will see displayed on our phone.
25
This then, concludes our tutorial on how to customize the power saving function on the HTC One M8
.
