Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to promote and customize educational subjects in the Kid Mode application on an HTC One M8.

Steps

To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone

Once the phone has been activated we will see the lock screen.

To unlock the phone, swipe the screen up

Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see 5 icons. We need to find the Settings menu. To do that, we need to swipe the notification panel down.

Press your finger at the top of the screen and swipe downwards

This will open the notification panel.

We want to tap the white cog icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen

This is our settings icon and it will open up the settings menu. It will say the word "Settings" in the top left-hand corner of the screen when it is opened.

Scroll down and tap on "Security" in the "PERSONAL" section

It has a padlock icon. This will open up the security settings.

We want to tap on the second option from the top, "Kid Mode"

Underneath it says, "Give a child limited access to your phone".

In this menu, we want the first option, "Parent Dashboard"

Underneath it says, "Add profiles and access all features". Press down on this option. Now we can promote and customize educational subjects.

If we scroll down, we can see "Promote Subjects" and next to it is an icon of several scales of different colors

Press down on this option.

Now it says, "Adjust these sliders to promote games that teach these subjects to Ash"
.
Ash is the child set up for kid mode. The sliders from top to bottom are "Math", "Reading", "Science", "Social Studies", "Cognitive Development", "Creative Development" and "Life Skills". These are all of the different subjects that appear in the games in kid mode, and we can prioritize what subjects we want the kids to learn. If the child is struggling in a certain area and we want to focus on a particular area to help them improve, we can prioritize those particular subjects.

To do that, just press down anywhere on the scale
.
Currently, the scale is in the middle for every section by default. This means they're all equal, however if we want to prioritize some, we just press down on the scale until the blue circle has moved. Now we can see that "Reading" is very much prioritized. If the child is very good at science, we can move that scale down to focus less attention on science. We can change any of these subjects in the same way.

Once we're happy with the customization, we need to press down on "Save" in the big pink box, in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen

Now these preferences have been saved

It says at the bottom that the promoted subjects have been saved successfully. We can edit these at any time.
