Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to Out of Office AutoReply in the Gmail application on an HTC One M8.
Steps
1
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone
.
Once the phone has been activated we will see the lock screen.
2
To unlock the phone, swipe the screen up
.
Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see 5 icons. We now need to open the application folder.
3
We can do that by tapping the icon in the middle, at the bottom of the screen
.
There is a grid of white dots. This is the icon for the applications folder.
4
Now that the folder has been opened, we need to find and tap the Gmail application
.
There is a Gmail icon, which is an envelope with a red 'M', and underneath it says the word "Gmail". Your application may be in a different location, so look for the icon in your folder. We now need to find the settings menu.
5
To do that, we need to tap the icon in the top left-hand corner
.
There are 3 horizontal lines. This will open up a menu.
6
We want to scroll down and tap on "Settings"
.
7
Tap on the middle option, which will be the email address set up with the application
.
In this example, it's "visihowl@gmail.com". This will open our account options.
8
We want to press down on the option that says "Out of Office AutoReply"
.
It currently says "Off" underneath of it.
9
Tap the grey switch in the top right corner to turn the option on
.
The switch will turn blue, indicating that it is on. This option will allow us to automatically respond to emails when we're not in the office and not able to reply. Anyone who sends us a message during the set period will receive an automatic response telling them whatever has been set.
10
We can set the date by tapping on the dates underneath "First day" and "Last day"
.
11
We can choose a day by tapping on it, then tap "OK"
.
We will choose July 3rd.
12
If we tap on the last day, there will be a recommended date which is 1 week after the first day
.
We can also tap on "Customized".
13
It will bring up the calendar again to select a date and tap "OK"
.
We will choose July 15th.
14
Next we have the option to add a subject by pressing down on the "Subject" section
.
We can type in whatever we want.
15
We can then type in the message by tapping on the "Message" area
.
This is the email that will be sent as the AutoReply. For example, we'll type "Will call later".
16
We can tap the last option to only send the AutoReply to contacts
.
This means that if we receive an email from someone that isn't a contact, it won't send an AutoReply to them. The option is activated when the box is blue with a white check mark.
17
To turn it off and send an AutoReply to everybody who sends an email during this period, press down on the box
.
The box will then be empty.
18
Once we're happy, we can press "DONE" in the top right-hand corner
.
19
At the bottom it will say, "Out of Office AutoReply changes saved"
.
We can see under "Out of Office AutoReply", it says it's on as well as the period it's on for.
20
This concludes the tutorial on how to create an Out of Office AutoReply in Gmail on an HTC One M8
