    To begin, open the VisualBoyAdvance emulator

    In this video, the icon for the emulator is on the desktop; but you may have the program saved in another location.

    When the emulator opens, click "File" in the menu at the top of the screen

    In the drop-down menu, click on "Open" to open up the ROM file

    Double-click the "PokemonLightPlatinum" file to open it

    Start a new game when the window loads
    .
    When the character that appears has finished talking, we will need to select "BOY" or "GIRL". For this tutorial, let's choose "BOY".

    Next, you can choose a preexisting name or select to enter a "NEW NAME"

    To enter a new name, you can also press "A" on the keyboard.

    On the next screen, type a name

    For this example, let's type "VisiHow". The V will be capitalized, and all other letters will be lower case. After clicking "V", select the "SELECT" button on the right side to change to lowercase letters.

    After you have entered the name, select "OK" or "START" in the lower-right corner of the window

    The next screen will ask you to confirm your name.
