How to Open a New S Memo on Samsung Galaxy S4

Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Note series of phones the S4 does not come with the S-Pen stylus. On the Galaxy Note phones, when you take the S-Pen out of its slot the phone automatically launches the S-Note app. Without the pen launching feature, you must open the app manually.

  1. 1
Go to your home screen by pressing the "Home" button, located on the lower middle part of your phone's front screen.

Finger Gesture of the S Memo on Samsung Galaxy S4

The following gestures will allow you to have more control over the S Memo on your Samsung Galaxy S4:

Zoom in gesture - allows you to zoom in on a certain area in the S Memo, thus, magnifying it. The gesture is done by putting two fingers onto the screen, and then stretching them apart, until you've reached a satisfactory size.

Zoom out gesture - allows you to zoom out on a certain area on the S Memo. The gesture is done by pinching two fingers, on your touchscreen (opposite of zoom in).

Panning gesture - allows you to easily and quickly move from one area into the other while S Memo is zoomed in. The gesture is done by dragging two fingers to any part of your screen.

  • Note: Some options, functions and commands may require an internet connection.

Questions and Answers

===When I am typing a memo, it doesn't automatically change page. I have to manually do it, to carry on. It's irritating because if I have to do an edit and the page is full, I cannot edit it. It wasn't like this before my update. Help

I simply want to take the lock off memo on my S4?

I can use memos, but can't gain access.

If you are not rooted, and the data on S-Memo is important, consider rooting the device in order to recover it. You can then try any of the following to gain access ( For Rooted Devices Only:

  • Sync your S-Memo with Evernote or Googlenote (this will back up your memos or notes).
  • Go to the S-Memo directory on your phone.
  • Delete directory.
  • Restart S-Memo app.
  • Enter new password.

NOTE: This procedure will allow you to use S-Memo with a new lock.

Syncing S-memo with Evernote also removes the lock. This may vary in versions as this is tested only on Android Gingerbread.

  • Download the app called Root Browser from your app store.
  • Download plugins from first run.
  • Go to: /data/user/0/com.sec.Android.app.memo/databases/.
  • Open memo.db.
  • Open memo_content.
  • Go to C2CONTENT tab.

IMPORTANT: Each entry is a line of your memo. You will see as many entries as the number of total lines in all of your memos.

You will now be able to see the locked note.

If you are not rooted, you can be able to access s-memo by doing a Factory Reset. Unfortunately, this will delete all data. To do this, do the following:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Tap Accounts.
  • Tap Back Up and Reset.
  • Tap Factory Data Reset.
  • Tap Reset Device.
  • Choose Delete All/Erase Everything.

OR

  • Dial : *2767*3855#.

Hi, How can I text S memo without sending in multimedia picture?

In Galaxy S3, I could add text, choose S memo, and send it as a text. In Galaxy S4, I can only attach S memo to text, and send as a picture.
