App 2: webOS LG TV Plus
Here is a nice little app from LG Electronics that only supports LG webOS Smart TVs released on and after 2014. Besides being a remote control, many other functions are included, such as:
- Launch applications installed in your Smart TV
- Control pointer as Magic Remote Controller
- View pictures, videos, and music in your smartphone on your Smart TV
- Watch popular Live TV, TV Shows and Movies VOD
- Filter movies and TV shows by channels or genres
- Browse Live TV Schedule
App 3: 2011 LG TV Remote
The LG app that you are going to want to use if your LG Smart TV was made in 2011 is this one. The features are exactly the same as the LG TV Remote listed above. The compatible TVs are: LED LZ9600, LED LW5500, LED LV5500, LED LV3700 Series (LV372S/ LV373S/ LV375S/ LV3700).

App 4: Smart LG TV Remote
Tinac Inc developed this remote control app for LG Smart TVs built in 2012 & 2013 and ALL LG webOS TVs. There are many other functions besides the basic remote control, such as:
- Keyboard / mouse control
- Previously connected devices automatically connect
- Live TV streaming on your smartphone
- Display your photos
- Launch your TV applications
App 5: IR LG TV Remote
This LG remote control app from Fast Fish Development used your smartphone's IR blaster to transmit the signal commands to your TV like a regular remote would. The majority of phones come with the IR blaster built in, but you should check with your manufacturer to be sure. If you download this app and find you are having problems, the creator of the app recommends you go to your app settings and change device type.
App 6: SURE Universal Remote
Not only will this SURE remote work with the LG, it works will many other manufacturers also. The creator of this app claims it can control a million different IR appliances. There are some smartphone permissions that the SURE Universal remote requires and I have listed them below:
- Identity - for billing purposes if you purchase through an advertisement
- Location - for advertising purposes
- Photos and Media - for displaying purposes on your LG TV
- Microphone - for voice commands
- WiFi - for connection to your TV
App 7: LGeemote Remote
This one will work with all LG Smart TVs by using the WiFi connection in your house. It has the basic remote control features. Connecting the LG TV and app is detailed below:
Connecting The LG TV To The LG Remote
- 1Download app
- 2Launch app
- 3Let the app search for your TV on the network

App 8: Easy Universal TV Remote
The biggest difference between this app and all the other LG remote controls is that you can connect to your TV in 3 different ways. You can use the IR port of your smartphone, the IR blaster in your smartphone, or use your WiFi connection. Any of these options will work with your LG Smart TV.
