iOS 13 and iPad OS 13 added support for a few popular gaming controllers, one of which is the Xbox One S wireless controller. If you're into playing games on your iPhone or iPad, using a Bluetooth console controller will undoubtedly improve playability for certain types of games, especially those designed to be played with a joystick.

In the following Visi tutorial, we're going to go through the steps for pairing and unpairing an Xbox One S controller with an iPhone or iPad.

For this write-up, we used an iPhone 7 running iOS 13.6.

Pair Xbox One S Controller with iPhone or iPad

    Tap the Settings app.

    Tap Bluetooth.

    Tap the switch to enable Bluetooth.

    Power up your Xbox One controller by pressing the Xbox button for 3-5 seconds

    Once powered on the Xbox button flashes slowly.

    With your iPhone or iPad close by, press the pair button on your Xbox One controller for 2-3 seconds

    The Xbox button is now flashing rapidly.

    On the Bluetooth screen on your iPhone or iPad, your Xbox One controller should be visible under OTHER DEVICES, tap it to connect.

    Once your iPhone or iPad is paired with your controller, it's listed below MY DEVICES.

Unpair Xbox One S Controller with iPhone or iPad

    Tap Bluetooth.

    Tap Xbox Wireless Controller

    Tap Disconnect.

    Once unpaired, your Xbox controller will display as Not Connected on the main Bluetooth screen.
