Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video we are going to show you how to clear the storage section of Google Chrome on an HTC One M8.
Steps
1
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button located on the top of the phone
.
2
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the lock screen
.
3
To unlock the phone, swipe the screen upwards
.
4
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see several icons
.
It is one of these icons that we now need to access in order to open Applications folder.
5
We need the icon at the bottom of the home screen and in the middle
.
It is a grid of white dots. Press down on this icon, and it will open our "Apps" folder.
6
In this folder, we need to find the Google "Chrome" application
.
It has the Google Chrome icon, which is a circle made up of different colors. Underneath, it says the word "Chrome". This icon may be located anywhere in the "Apps" folder.
7
Once it has been found, press down on the Google "Chrome" icon to enter the application
.
8
Once the application is loaded, we need the icon located in the top right-hand corner of the screen
.
We can see that there are three small black dots in a vertical line.
9
Press down on this icon to open a menu
.
10
We want the "Settings" option, which is second from the bottom
.
Press down on that.
11
In the "Settings" menu, we need to scroll down until we get to "Site settings"
.
Press down on that section.
12
Now, scroll down all the way to the bottom until we get to the section that says, "Storage"
.
13
Press down on the word "Storage" to bring up the "Storage" menu
.
This page stores all the websites and data that we have visited in this Google Chrome application. We can now remove and clear some of this storage.
14
Choose a website to clear by pressing down on it
.
15
On the next screen, there is a blue trash bin on the right-hand side of the screen
.
Press down on that.
16
A message will pop up on the screen that says "Clear stored data - All local data stored by this website, including cookies, will be deleted."
17
If we want to do that, we should press down on "CLEAR ALL" at the bottom right corner of this window
.
18
For now, we're going to press down on "Cancel"
.
19
Back on the "Site settings" screen, we also have the option to "CLEAR & RESET"
.
Press down on this option.
20
This will bring up a message that says, "Clear & reset - Are you sure that you want to clear all local data, including cookies, and reset all permissions for this website?" This is similar to the trash bin, but it's slightly different
.
This option is going to reset permissions, while the bin is just going to clear the data.
21
Press down on "CLEAR & RESET" to continue, or press "CANCEL" to go back
.
22
Press down on the arrow in the top left-hand corner of the screen to go back
.
23
We can repeat this process with any of the websites on the "Storage" page
.
24
On the right-hand side of the screen, it shows the different amounts of space that each website is taking up, or the amount of data that is being stored
.
Some store a lot more data than others. We have seen now how we can clear this data.
25
This concludes our tutorial on how to clear the storage section of Google Chrome on an HTC One M8
.
