Tips & Trivia

  • Your history is a log of every web page you have visited with your browser. In addition to slowing down your browsing experience, people using your browser may happen across activity you'd rather they didn't know about. Deleting your history can help prevent that from happening.
  • Cached files are items your browser has saved to speed up the loading of web pages. A cache that has many files, though, can ultimately slow down your browsing. It's a good idea to clear your cache fairly regularly.
  • Cookies are small amounts of data that are specific to you and the website that they correspond to. As with cached files, they can slow down your browsing experience.

Questions and Answers

My screen did not show an Internet icon. Where is it?

Go to the Home Menu

If you are having a hard time locating your Internet icon, try these tips:

  • Get to your Home menu by pressing on the Home button once or tapping on the Back key until it takes you to the Home screen. On the Favorites bar on your Home screen, you will normally see the internet icon (the globe icon, fourth from the left in the image below). Tap on the Internet icon to open the application.

  • Go to the Application list. Get to your Application list by going to the Home menu and tapping on the Applications icon (right-most icon on the Favorites bar in the above image). From the Application list, look for the Internet app and tap on it to open the application.
  • If you still can't find the Internet app, send a text message containing a website address to your own mobile number. For example, send yourself a text message containing the message: www.visihow.com. When you receive the message, tap on the address and choose "Open URL" on the page that will pop up. You may be asked to choose what application should be used to open this type of file; if so, choose "Internet". The Internet application will automatically open.
  • Once you locate the internet browser icon, press and hold the icon, and then drag it onto the main screen of your device.

Depending on the application that you used during downloading, the location of the downloaded file is in its download folder. Here are some tips to find the missing file:

  • Use your file explorer application to search for the downloaded file. Go to your Home Screen > Apps > My Files > All Files > Device Storage > Download. Check to see if the file that you are looking for is in that folder.
  • If you downloaded it through a third party applications and browser, you can search for the application's folder by going to your Home Screen > Apps > My Files > All Files > Device Storage > Android > Data > Search for the application you used for downloading and tap on it > Search for the Download folder and locate the file that you are looking for.
  • You can also use your File explorer's search function. To search for a file name, go to your Home Screen > Apps > My Files > All Files > Device Storage > tap on Menu key > Choose Search > Enter the name of the file that you are looking for.

Was this a game installation file or the game's data file? If you've installed a game that you no longer want, simply go into Settings>Apps and select the game from the downloaded list and then hit Uninstall.

You can also browse your phone's internal storage for the files by using a file manager app. You can easily find one from the Play Store. Something like "Es File Explorer" will work. Once installed, you can open the app and search for the game data file in /Android/Data or in Android/OBB folders.

My Galaxy Note1 is slow. I only have 10 apps that I downloaded. I just followed your recommendation, 'clearing cache/cookies/history'. I would love to know the best way & hopefully the easiest way to preserve the speed of my tablet. If I want more apps, should I transfer them to my SD card? I just followed your recommendation re cleaning cache, history etc & wait to see what happens. I only have downloaded 9 apps but would like more but worried, it may slow down the tablet. Are there other ways to retain memory? And lastly if I download new apps should I transfer them to my SD card? Many thanks, hope you may be able to help & greetings

My Note1 sometimes freezes, so I take out the battery to reboot.
