To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone

Once the phone is activated we will see the lock screen.

To unlock the phone, press down on the screen and swipe up

Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen and at the bottom we will see 5 icons.

We need to find the settings menu and to do that, we can swipe the notification panel down

To do that, press and hold at the top of the phone, then swipe down. The notification panel will appear.

We are looking for the gear icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen

This is our settings icon. Press down on it to open up the settings menu. It will say "Settings" in the top left-hand corner of the screen.

We need to scroll down until we get to the "PHONE" section, then tap on "Storage"

It has a USB stick icon next to it.

Scroll down to the bottom, the final option, "Storage settings" in the "OTHER" section

This opens our storage settings. We want to demonstrate how to choose between saving messages to the HTC One M8 or to its SD card. We can make that choice by pressing down on "Camera".

Tap on "Camera", the final option at the bottom

Tap on "Phone storage" or "SD card storage"
.
It is currently set to SD card storage, indicated by the green circle. We are currently saving everything that we take with the camera to the SD card. This includes videos. Some people may need to change this, perhaps if they don't have enough space on their SD card and they want to save things to the phone. They can do this by tapping on "Phone storage".

It takes us out of that little menu, but as we can see, it is now set to "Phone storage"

If we press down on the option again, we can see that the green circle has moved to the first option

Make the choice that is right for you. You may want to quickly save things to your phone if the SD card is full and you don't have time to delete things, or vice versa.
