To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button located on top of the phone

Once the phone has been activated, we'll see the lock screen

To unlock the phone, press down on the screen and hold down until two padlock icons appear

Then swipe up.

Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the Home screen

At the bottom, we will see several icons. We now need to find the Settings menu, and we can do that by swiping the Notification panel down.

Press down at the top of the screen, hold down, and swipe down

We are looking for the icon at the top right-hand corner of the screen

It is a white cog icon, and this is our Settings icon.

Press down on that icon, and it will open up the "Settings" menu

The word "Settings" appears at the top left-hand corner of the screen.

Scroll down to the "PHONE" section, as indicated by the word "PHONE" in the gray bar

Scroll down a bit more to get to the word "Storage"

Next to it is the "Storage" icon, which is an image of a USB.

Press down on "Storage", and it will open up those options

Now scroll all the way to the bottom, and it will say "OTHER" in the gray bar

We're looking for "Storage settings", so press down on that section

On the menu that appears, we're looking for "Messages", which is the third option down
.
"Messages" are currently set to "Phone storage". The place to save our messages is currently set to save them on the actual HTC One M8.

We can change this by first pressing down on "Messages"

A window with two options will appear
.
We can now choose between saving messages to the HTC One M8 or to its SD card. Pressing down on one of the options will select it for us and take us out of the menu window. We can see which option is selected by the green circle on the right-hand side of the screen.

Press down on the option that is not selected, which in this demonstration is "SD card storage"

Now, it has taken us out of that menu, but we can see underneath the word "Messages" it now says "SD card storage"

If we press down on the "Messages" option again, the green circle is seen next to "SD card storage"

This can be changed around. Sometimes, if there is less room or less memory on one of these options, we may want to change where messages are saved at different times.
