To begin, click "File" in the menu at the top of the window

In the drop-down menu, click "Document Settings..."

From the window that appears, type custom "Width" and "Height" values

You can type them directly into the text boxes.

You can also click the "Presets" drop-down menu

Then, click one of the presets

The default settings depend on the screen dimensions of the recorded item. For this tutorial, let's click the "720p HD" preset.

Now, click "Update"

This is the blue button in the bottom-right corner of this window. The canvas size will automatically be adjusted.

You need to press "Shift" and click and drag the screen to resize it to the new dimensions

Click and drag the screen to position it within the new dimensions

Finally, press "Shift" and click and drag the screen to resize it again to fit the canvas

The screen might be just a little too narrow.

You can stretch the screen just a little by clicking and dragging the right anchor point

Alternatively, you can crop the bottom or the top

You have a dock bar at the bottom. It's not necessarily relevant. Click and drag the bottom-right corner until the dock is no longer visible.

You can stretch the screen until it snaps to the guidelines now

You can see that the preview is a little distorted where the width was expanded, but the whole video is at the correct screen resolution now.
