Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to change the primary inbox notification sound in the Gmail application on an HTC One M8.

   To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone

   .

   Once the phone has been activated we will see the lock screen.

   To unlock the phone, swipe the screen up

   Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see 5 icons. We now need to open the application folder.

   We can do that by tapping the icon in the middle, at the bottom of the screen

   There is a grid of white dots. This is the icon for the applications folder.

   Now that the folder has been opened, we need to find and tap the Gmail application

   There is a Gmail icon, which is an envelope with a red 'M', and underneath it says the word "Gmail". Your application may be in a different location, so look for the icon in your folder. We now need to find the settings menu.

   To do that, we need to tap the icon in the top left-hand corner

   There are 3 horizontal lines. This will open up a menu.

   We want to scroll down and tap on "Settings"

   Tap on the middle option, which will be the email address set up with the application

   In this example, it's "visihowl@gmail.com". This will open our account options.

   We want to tap on the option labeled "Inbox sound & vibrate"

   It's important to note that this section is only for the Primary inbox. There are different inbox categories, and this is only for the main inbox (Primary inbox). To learn how to change the notification sound for the other categories, refer to the video on VisiHow on how to do so. Gmail refers to them as labels, even though they're referred to as categories here, they're actually referred to as Labels in other areas. Tapping on this option brings us to the "Label settings" menu.

   The box to the right of "Label notifications" is a blue box with a white check mark, indicating that we are receiving notifications from this label

   Underneath of that is the "Sound" option.

    The current tone will show underneath the "Sound" option

    In this example, it's "Button". Tap on it to change it.

    Tap on a tone to listen to it

    The turquoise circle will move to the selected option. Find the tone to set, and tap on "OK".

    Now we can see the new tone is labeled underneath of the "Sound" option
