    To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone

    To unlock the phone, swipe the screen up

    Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see 5 icons. We now need to find the Settings menu. To do that, we need to swipe the notification panel down.

    To do that, press your finger at the top of the screen and swipe downwards

    This will open the notification panel.

    We want to tap the white cog icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen

    This is our settings icon and it will open up the settings menu. It will say the word "Settings" in the top left-hand corner of the screen when it is opened.

    Now, tap on "Accounts & sync" in the "PERSONAL" section

    The icon on the left-hand side is a small gray circle, surrounded by two arrows making another circle. In this setting, we will see all of the accounts that we currently have synced with the phone.

    We can see the "Download past mail" option, and underneath it says "3 days"

    When we sync our Microsoft Outlook account to the HTC One M8, it's going to download mail only from the previous 3 days. That's not a very long time. Press down on that option to change it.

    Here we can select any option from "1 day" to "All"
    .
    We can see the blue dot is currently on "3 days", which indicates what option is currently selected. If we want to change to a different option, we can just press down on it. For example, we'll press down on 30 days.

    It will show us a warning that says "Downloading 30 or more days of past mail may take a long time and slow performance
    .
    Do you want to continue?" If we want to continue, we press "OK". If we don't want to continue, press "CANCEL". We're going to cancel because we don't want to do this now.
