Edited by Thor, Amanda, Eng
Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show how to change the format for viewing photos in the Photos application on an HTC One M8.
Steps
1
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the top of the phone
.
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the lock screen.
2
To unlock the phone, swipe the screen upwards
.
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the home screen. At the bottom, we will see icons. It is this section we need to focus on now because we need to open up the applications folder.
3
Press the icon at the bottom center of the home screen
.
It looks like a grid made up of white dots. Pressing down on it will open up the applications folder.
4
Find the Photos application
.
In this demonstration, it is located at the bottom right. The Photos icon is a multi-colored pinwheel. Underneath, it says the word "Photos". The Photos application may be in any position in this folder. Find the icon and press down to enter the application. In this video, we want to show how to change the format for viewing photos.
5
Check the title above the images to determine the current format
.
Ours is "Today", so we're looking at photos from today. We can change that format to month or to year. There are two ways to do this. The first is to change the format manually with a gesture.
6
Take two fingers and press down on the screen
.
We will use a thumb and index finger.
7
Swipe or pinch inwards, bringing fingers together
.
The format is changing.
8
Repeat the gesture to cycle through formats
.
Here we have "June", which is the month format.
9
We can repeat again to change to a yearly format
.
10
To cycle back, repeat the gesture in reverse
.
Press two fingers closely together on the screen, and swipe outwards. This is how to change the viewing format manually for these photos. There is a second option, however.
11
Press the icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen
.
The icon looks like three small gray circles in a vertical line. A dropdown menu offers different views. "Comfortable view", which is "Today", and "Month view" and "Year view".
12
Press down on "Year view"
.
We have gone directly to this format. It is important to remember that there are two different ways to change the format for viewing photos in this application: manually (with your fingers) and by using the icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

This concludes our tutorial on how to change the format for viewing photos in the Photos application on an HTC One M8
