Change the Dock Settings on a Mac

Steps

    To get to the settings menu, right-click the vertical line. It is located on the bottom-right side of the dock. A pop-up menu will appear.

    In the menu, click "Turn Hiding On". This will make your dock go down to the bottom of your screen until you move the cursor to the bottom.

    When you move the cursor to the bottom of the screen, the dock will reappear.

    Right-click the vertical line again.

    You can click "Turn Magnification On" or "Turn Magnification Off". Magnification is a scrolling effect that makes the icons increase their size as you move the cursor over them.

    You can move the cursor to "Position on Screen". The dock can appear at the bottom, on the left side, or on the right side of the screen.

    Move the cursor to "Minimize Using". You can change the minimization animation. In this menu, you can click either "Genie Effect" or "Scale Effect".

    To get to more options, you can click "Dock Preferences...". Clicking "Dock Preferences" will take you to the system preferences menu for the dock. This menu allows you to make all of the same adjustments with a little more customization.
