    To start with, press the power button and swipe across your lock screen to open it

    This should take you to your home screen. In this case we're using a Samsung Galaxy S5 Smartphone.

    In order to proceed and access the language option, we're going to need to open our settings panel
    .
    That can be done by swiping down across the phone, and then selecting the Settings icon at the top of the phone.

    Alternatively, we can press the home button at the bottom to go back to the home screen

    Then we're going to press on the Apps button which is this checkerboard shaped icon. Tap on that one time.

    You may need to scroll through a few windows, but you'll find the Settings icon that looks just like the one on the notifications screen, only it's larger and has color

    Tap that one time, which will take us to the Settings Menu.

    We want to go down to our System Settings, which means scrolling down past Quick Settings, Network Settings, and the other options, until we see the grey letter, which says Language and Input

    Tap that one time.

    Now you will see at the top that our language is set to English (United States)

    Scroll down through the list until you find Japanese

    Japanese, and other languages similar to it, are not going to appear in the actual language you may expect them to appear in, but rather, they're going to appear in the character set specific to that language. In this case, we're going to be using this.

    Now our language will reset into the Japanese Konji character set

    We can swipe down, which will open up our notifications panel and give us the option to press on the Settings button

    Now we can scroll through our apps and look for the Settings button

    Obviously, if you don't speak or read Japanese, you may not be able to find the Systems Menu, however, you can find the grey, letter A character icon. That is the icon that will allow you to change, modify or update the system language. Press it one time and this will open up the option to change the languages.

    Again, while you probably can't read this if you don't understand Japanese, you should know that the very top button is the one you choose

    This will let you select the language that you would like to have.

I have an S6. Japanese is not listed in languages. How can I get it?

Japanese is not listed as a language option, how can I get it?

You can watch in this Youtube Tutorial how to install Google Japanese Input from Google Play. To toggle back and forth after install, you would tap the globe at the bottom of your keyboard and the list will come up of the languages you have on your phone.

So whenever I try to change my system language to Japanese, it is unavailable as an option?

Following the instructions very closely, I did everything that was mentioned to me in this tutorial and was not able to find the Japanese language option. in fact, there are only about 7 options to choose from.. I have tried: I haven't rooted my phone. I have just reread this tutorial multiple times to not have any success.. I think it was caused by: Maybe the software is unavailable. I have this model phone so that is the part that is really confusing me

I can't find Japanese in the place where you scroll down?

I checked everywhere but there's no Japanese but I have the keyboard but no Japanese in the settings area... and I mean like when I scrolled down there was no such thing as Japanese or � - �本語 so Because I'm Japanese and I LOVE it it's a problem for me and I'm using a Note4 Samsung and that might be the case... Why! P.S. why does it say here it's too short?
