You're watching VisiHow. In this tutorial, we're going to demonstrate how to adjust the volume on the Nexus 6P smartphone. There are two ways to do this. One is a little more complicated, but I am going to show that first. It is recommended for beginners, because it will really help you understand how the volume controls work on the Nexus 6P.

   Next, tap on the gear-shaped icon on the top right

   In the "Settings" menu, tap on "Sound & notification"

   You will see that the Sound is actually grouped into three distinct volume controls: you have one for your "Media volume", one for your "Alarm volume", and one for your "Ring volume". The "Media volume" is for playing music.

   When you move the "Media volume" slider to the right, the phone will let you preview how loud it will sound when you release the screen

   The second method is more complicated: it allows you to preview the sound of the volume as you are making the adjustments, and it involves the volume up and down buttons.

   When you use the the volume buttons to the right, the appropriate volume type will be changed

   On the home screen, the phone will assume that you want to change the ringtone volume. You will not be able to hear a sample of the volume to which you are adjusting.

   You will be able to adjust all of the three volume types. Automatic selection of the volume type is useful and intuitive, because the phone may assume that you want to adjust the ringtone volume.

It is recommended to initially set the volumes up in the "Settings" menu.
