To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the right-hand side of the phone

Once the phone is activated, we'll see the lock screen

Swipe the lock screen up, and this will take us to the home screen.

On the home screen, we need to find the TripAdvisor tile
.
It has a green background, and in the middle is the TripAdvisor logo. This is a hypnotic owl with very large eyes. If TripAdvisor has not been pinned to the home screen, swipe left to find it in the Apps menu.

Once TripAdvisor has been located, press down on it, and this will allow us to enter the application

We need to swipe left until we get to the "near me" section

This application has different units to measure distance and we can switch between them. There are kilometres, and there are miles. We are just going to tap a random place to demonstrate.

The application is currently in miles

It says it is "0.19 Mi" away from where we currently are. Press the back arrow to go back. We need to go into the settings menu to change it to kilometres.

Press the 3 green dots in a row, in the bottom right corner of the screen, to open the menu

Tap on "settings" in green lettering

Tap on the green box under "Select Units Of Measure"

It will say either "mile" or "km" depending on what it is currently set to.

Choose which unit you would like by tapping on it

In this example, we're tapping on "km".

Below the green box, it now says, "Restart TripAdvisor now to see changes applied"

We will need to exit the application and then re-enter it to allow the changes to take effect. Press the white arrow until the application is closed.

Tap on the TripAdvisor tile again to open the application

We are going to find a random place to select so that we can see the changes
.
We are currently in the "near me" section and we're going to press down on "restaurants" in the green box. This will bring up all of the restaurants that are close to us and sort them by proximity.

Each restaurant has a number to the right of it, telling us how far away it is
.
It is using GPS to locate this phone and is calculating how close the restaurants are. As we can see, it has successfully been changed to kilometres. If we scroll down, the restaurants get further away.

To change it back, simply repeat the same process by pressing the menu icon in the bottom right corner, then tapping on "settings"

Select the green box under "Select Units Of Measure" to select a different unit of measurement

We will need to exit and reenter the application again to allow the changes to take effect.
