Can't Manage To Transfer My Gamertag From One Microsoft Account to Another?

When I first signed up to Xbox live back in the beta days I used a girlfriends email address for some reason, which is a Hotmail address and associated with microsoft. She is now an ex and wants her e-mail back for herself but if she does that I lose my gamertag and digital games. Xbox support says there's no way of transferring gamertags across to my own microsoft e-mail and account.. . I also can't change the alias on Hotmail as that would lock her out of her account.
