Cannot connect to 3G network on Samsung Galaxy S4 China version?

The SIM card has been verified as a 3G type, and I have manually searched for a 3G network but it seems to be unable to connect with 3G. In its settings there are options for GSM/WCDMA but even when selected, it reverts back to GSM-only. I can then only get EDGE signal on the phone. Help!

If you are in an area with poor reception, you may only receive EDGE signal. However, if you're in an area that you know has good reception, you can follow the steps below.

Switch between the different network options available on your device until you find one that works. If none of them work, call your carrier and ask for a new SIM card. The one you have may be faulty, which would prevent you from connecting to your carrier's 3G network. If the new SIM card doesn't work, you will need to call Samsung to schedule a repair.

Settings>mobile networks>network operators and select automatically the preferred network. OR Settings> connections> more networks> mobile networks> network mode and manually change the setting to WDCMA or vice versa.

Put your phone into Recovery Mode and Wipe Cache Partition. There may have been some cache from the previous OS stopping you from keeping your 3G.

Trying to figure out why my GS4 is only connecting to EDGE?

I am trying to figure out why my GS4 is only connecting to EDGE. It was fine when it was new and then it stopped at some stage.

You may have inadvertently changed something in the Network settings. Go back in and select EDGE only. See if your phone will accept the option. If it does not then hard reset your phone. Back it up first using Samsung Kies.
